Riding Horses Is Good for You

In general, riding horses is a great experience for everyone. Getting into the great outdoors is already well known for being good for your health. And so is exercise, which helps your body release serotonin that can make you feel happier and boost your mood.

But horses themselves are actually excellent animals for boosting your mental health. Equine-Assisted Therapy is a thing for a reason, horses are found to help those who suffer from a wide range of struggles from dementia to autism.

And of course, horses are great for improving coordination and balance, as well as working those core muscles. Now, don't worry, our rides aren't a boot camp! But a lot of people don't realize that horseback riding is exercise - the horse isn't doing all of the work here!

The Setting

As we mentioned, now that the weather is cooling down it is the perfect time to get into the great outdoors - and maybe spot some of that gorgeous fall foliage. What makes Southern Trails a unique experience is its variety of settings. Let's take a look at where you can find yourself!

Close to the City

Most horseback trails are deep in the country and occasionally difficult to get to. That's not the case with Southern Trails, which is located just 15 minutes from downtown Austin.

When you are on vacation it can be hard to relax and get out of the city, but that's made easy with our estate. Take a respite from your driving and see the world from a different angle.

Victory Cheval Estate

This estate is where you will be doing your horseback riding! It is one hundred acres of beautiful open green. Spot some local wildlife as the riding trails take you past ponds and creeks.

This estate also has some history to explore. A 1700's graveyard is a highlight of every trail ride, full of intrigue and heroes from Texas history. Some of the relatives of Davy Crockett - King of the Wild Frontier - are said to be buried here!

The ranch itself is beautifully manicured. Expect tall oak trees and serene scenic environments.

French Polo Estate

For those of you looking for a little more luxury and an extended stay, the adjoining French Polo Estate could be just perfect for you and your family or a group of friends. Then, get ready to learn as the horse is saddled up and you are helped aboard. A 20-minute arena ride will give children all the experience they need to be able to tackle the trails and learn a little about riding horses in the process.

Finally, a 20-minute trail ride will give children a taste of what it's like to explore the world from the back of a horse. The little dude ride is designed for families with children that are aged 10 and under. The total time will be 60 minutes for $95 per rider.
